CONVERTING CD AUDIO TO WAV OR MP3

You can easily convert your audio CD's to Wav or MP3 by downloading and using the Freeware program CDex.

Open CDex and load a audio CD in your CDROM or DVD drive. You will see that CDex auto detects the CD and shows you the track content in the main window.

Before we start you should decide what sound quality you want to use for your sound files. Open 'Options/Settings' and choose your desired encoding property. By default CDex is set to the CD quality standard settings for Wav and MP3, There is no need to change these settings for burning to CD:

MP3: 128kbps 44100 Hz Stereo

Wav: 44100 Hz 16bit Stereo

Now we have our encoding properties we can choose the tracks we are going to convert from CD to Wav or MP3.

Most popular CD's information can loaded by going online and then clicking on the 'CDDB' (Compact Disc DataBase) button in the bottom right hand of the CDex window. If this is successful the Artist/Title and Track Name details will be filled in for you.

In the main window select the track or tracks you are going to convert. If you want to convert more than one track at a time, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while highlighting extra tracks.

To manually name your tracks right-click on a track and rename the CD audio file to the 'Band Name and Track Name' of the CD before converting.

Now either right-click again on the track or tracks that are selected or click on the corresponding button on the right of the main screen to convert the tracks to either Wav or MP3.

When you start to convert the elapsed time will show in the dialogue window. The time it takes to convert your tracks is down to how many tracks you are converting and your PC systems performance.

The finished extraction's will by default be found in your 'C:\My Documents\MP3\' folder. If you want to save them somewhere different open 'Options/Settings/Filenames' in CDex and choose a different location.
