RECORDING
MIDI TO WAV/MP3 IN CAKEWALK PRO AUDIO 9
If
you don't use the audio side of Cakewalk you can still record and mixdown
your Midi or SoundFont compositions to Windows media formats Wav, Mp3
etc. This is how to do it with the SBLive soundcard.
Open
the Midi or SoundFont composition you want to record in Cakewalk then
in a new 'Track' double click the 'Track Properties'.

Change
the 'Source' to 'Stereo SB Live! Wave In' (or whatever your equivalent
soundcard driver is) and click 'OK'.

'Arm'
the track for recording by clicking the 'R' in the 'Track View'.

Now
open your soundcard or Windows mixer and select the playback and recording
properties you want to use. For playback set your 'Play Control', 'Wave/Direct
Sound' and 'Midi' volumes to full and 'Mute' all other playback settings.

Under
'Options/Properties' change your settings for recording. We are going
to use the 'What U Hear' option which will record everything that is
played back. These settings will reduce any background noise and optimize
the volume when recording.

Click
the 'Record' button in Cakewalk and stop when you have finished your
recording.

You
should now have a track of audio.

'Unarm'
the track and 'Solo' the audio track for auditioning by clicking the
'S' button in the 'Track View'. When you are satisfied with your recording
you can save it as a media file.

Open
'Tools/Mixdown Audio/Export To Files'.

Name
your 'File', Select your 'File Type' and 'Format' then click 'Export'.

Cakewalk
will now mixdown your chosen media format to disk.
NOTE:
CD quality audio requires 10mb of disk space per minute of recording
so make sure you have sufficient disk space for saving your files.
